Responsibilities
- Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct research on legal issues, legislation, case law, and constitutional matters. Analyze findings and provide recommendations for legal proceedings and policy development.
- Case Support: Assist in the preparation of legal documents, including drafting pleadings, briefs, and legal opinions. Review and summarize case files, conduct factual investigations, and gather evidence.
- Courtroom Observations: Attend court proceedings to gain practical exposure to legal proceedings, including trials, hearings, and motions. Take notes and prepare reports on observed cases.
- Administrative Support: Provide assistance with administrative tasks such as organizing and maintaining case files, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and handling correspondence.
- Legal Compliance: Assist in monitoring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies. Identify areas of non-compliance and propose measures to rectify or mitigate risks.
- Policy Development: Contribute to the development of policies and guidelines related to justice and constitutional matters. Research best practices, draft policy documents, and participate in policy discussions and consultations.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with team members and stakeholders within the DOJ and external organizations. Communicate effectively through oral and written means, including preparing reports, memos, and presentations.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a law degree program or a recent law graduate.
Knowledge of legal principles, legislation, and constitutional law.
Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and in a team.
Proficiency in using legal research tools and software.
Prior internship or work experience in a legal or related field is advantageous.
